"The COVID-19 situation in Beijing is basically under control," said a local official at a press conference on Saturday.

Beijing reported one more case on Friday, bringing the total to 25 infections since December 18.

There are seven "COVID-19 middle-risk areas" in Beijing now.

The capital city started inoculations of China's first batch of vaccines on Friday.

Nine high-risk groups in Beijing are the first to be inoculated before the Chinese lunar New Year on February 12, according to Gao Xiaojun, spokesperson for the Beijing Municipal Health Commission.
