China held a national commendation conference at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday to mark the country's accomplishments in extreme poverty eradication.
President Xi Jinping presented medals, certificates and plaques to role models in the country's poverty eradication campaign.
A total of 10 people and 10 collective units from different strata of the Chinese society were awarded national honorary titles for their contributions.
In addition, 1,981 individuals and 1,501 collective units were also awarded.

Addressing the gathering, President Xi declared a "complete victory" in eradicating extreme poverty in China and hailed it as a miracle that shall "go down in history."
Through eight years of unremitting efforts, China lifted nearly 100 million underprivileged people in rural areas out of poverty a month before the end of 2020.
