"We should keep putting to good use of the ability to mobilize forces for a common cause," Chinese President Xi Jinping said during a gathering in Beijing to mark China's eradication of extreme poverty on Thursday.
Terming this ability a political strength of China's socialist system, Xi said it enabled the country to develop a common will and coordinate moves in the fight to eradicate extreme poverty.
The country mobilized all ethnic groups and social forces to declare war against poverty, and it is united to give the poverty eradication campaign a final push, he said.
The Party, government, military and the people have all been focusing their energy on the battle, Xi noted. "All regions in the country are stringed together in the common fight to eradicate extreme poverty."
The country strengthened the "East-West Pairing-off Cooperation" on provincial, municipal and prefectural levels and facilitated the flow of talents, funds and technology into poverty-stricken regions, Xi continued.
Stronger assistance was provided to targeted impoverished areas with active participation from the Party and central government departments, offices of other political parties as well as state-owned enterprises, public institutions and the military, Xi said.
Private enterprises, social organizations and individuals from all sectors contributed their expertise to the battle, Xi noted.
It has been a whole-of-society effort across government departments, industries and regions, with different types of poverty eradication measures complimenting one another, he added.
Numerous facts have demonstrated the strength of China's socialist system under the Party's leadership to take on challenges and overcome obstacles, Xi said.
"As long as we adhere to the leadership of the Party and the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, more successes like the poverty eradication campaign will be achieved and greater victories will be declared."
