China on Monday voiced support for the EU's specific proposals for holding an international meeting with the participation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) participants and the United States after Iran earlier dismissed the idea

Speaking at a regular press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin reiterated China's stance to the Iranian nuclear issue saying "a crucial juncture has come."

The most pressing task at hand is for all parties to push for the unconditional return of the United States to the JCPOA and the lifting of all relevant sanctions so as to create conditions to bring the deal back on track, Wang noted.

In light of this, China has proposed holding an international meeting with the participation of JCPOA participants and the U.S., the spokesperson said.

"We urged the U.S. and EU avoid taking adversarial measures at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in order to facilitate the early convening of the above-mentioned meeting," he added.

China will continue to maintain contact with all parties concerned, Wang noted, adding that China stands ready to work with all other parties to this end.

Last week, the European Union offered to attend an informal meeting between Iran and other parties to the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal, with the U.S. also attending as a guest. The U.S. side expressed willingness to join.

Iran on Sunday said that time is "not appropriate" for holding the meeting stressing that the U.S. should lift sanctions before talking with Iran.
