A post related to veteran Hong Kong actor Ng Man-tat's death has received over 5.78 billion views on Weibo, China's Twitter equivalent.

Wu Guangbo, a 32-year-old man from the northern Chinese city of Chifeng in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, paid a special tribute to the late actor via GPS route drawing.

Suffering from hearing loss, Wu is fond of drawing from an early age. In recent years, he has developed a hobby of drawing something by designing a route for running. On learning of Ng's passing, Wu decided to do something extraordinary to mourn the death of his favorite actor.

Wu drew Ng's image on his mobile phone and designed a five-kilometer running route based on the drawing. Then he created a GPS route by recording his path via a running app. The video of him running and completing his pre-planned track on Xuanwo Video, a video platform affiliated to local newspaper Xi'an Business, has received acclaim among netizens for his creative thought.

Ng passed away at the age of 70 on Saturday from liver cancer. He's known for a series of comedy films that he worked with Hong Kong actor and director Stephen Chow, including "Fight Back to School" (1991), "A Chinese Odyssey" (1995) and "Shaolin Soccer" (2001). In 2017, he also participated in the record-breaking sci-fi film "The Wandering Earth."

Ng's funeral is scheduled to be held on March 7.
