Europe's breakaway football league is crumbling just 48 hours after it shocked fans across the world with the announcement of its establishment.

All six English Premier League teams have withdrawn from the proposed European Super League comprised of twelves clubs in total. The other six are from the Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A.

Manchester City were the fist to pull out on Tuesday, followed by Chelsea. Manchester United said it had "listened carefully to the reaction from our fans, the UK government and other key stakeholders." Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool followed.

The Super League, containing also Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Juventus, and AC Milan, besides the six from England, originally decided to expand to 15 and allow 20 clubs every season, it announced on Monday. 

Since its establishment, it has received huge backlash from fans, organizations, and government ministers in the UK and across Europe.
