Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday said that China and Germany should resist the trend of "decoupling" to stabilize global supply chains.
Wang made the remarks while discussing future cooperation between the two countries with his German counterpart Heiko Maas via video link.
The two sides should jointly counter the setbacks caused by "decoupling," defend multilateralism and contribute to global development, Wang said, adding that China is against drawing ideological lines as well as unilateral sanctions randomly imposed based on misinformation.
Noting China-Germany relations have generally remained stable since last year, Wang said as all-round strategic partners, China and Germany should always follow the important principle and valuable experience of mutual respect, stick to the theme of dialogue and cooperation, and release positive signals of openness, cooperation, mutual benefit and win-win results.
Wang said that China is actively constructing its new development pattern to realize higher-level opening-up and exploring the huge potential of its domestic market to bring new development opportunities for the world.
Wang said China hopes that Germany can also remain open to China, easing export restrictions on high-tech products to China and providing fair, open and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises.
Maas said Germany attaches great importance to its relations with China and is willing to enhance bilateral dialogue in various fields, strengthen pragmatic cooperation and jointly cope with global issues and challenges.
