Hong Kong Security Bureau on Friday announced that it had frozen jailed media publisher Jimmy Lai's assets under the national security law.

Lai's assets stood at nearly 500 million Hong Kong dollars ($64.3 million), including all the shares of Next Digital Limited held by him, and the property in the local bank accounts of three companies owned by him.

Last month, Lai was sentenced to 14 months behind bars for organizing and taking part in unauthorized assemblies.
