China urges the U.S. not to seek political manipulation or to interfere with Chinese domestic affairs in the name of COVID-19 vaccine assistance to China's Taiwan, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Monday.

Zhao said that Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority continued political manipulation without concerning people's lives and health on the island, which is against humanitarianism.

State Council Taiwan Affairs Office Spokesperson Ma Xiaoguang expressed the mainland's concerns on Monday over Taiwan's recent epidemic situation and the health of Taiwan compatriots.

Ma noted the mainland is willing to provide COVID-19 vaccines and hopes to assist Taiwan compatriots in quickly defeating the COVID-19 epidemic.

Ma said the DPP authority continues to seek political manipulation and is disregarding the health of Taiwan people. Such moves in the name of COVID-19 vaccine are an extremely irresponsible act against people in Taiwan, he added.
