To have the courage to carry out self-reform is the most distinctive part of our Party's character, said Xiao Pei, deputy secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Xiao, also the vice chairman of the National Commission of Supervision of the the People's Republic of China(PRC), made the remarks at a press conference held by the press center for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC on Monday in Beijing.

"Since the 18th National Congress, we have incorporated comprehensively governing the Party with strict discipline into the 'Four Comprehensives' strategy," Xiao noted while hailing the CPC's zero-tolerance policy on corruption.

Both the Party's and state's oversight systems have been constructed, he stressed, adding that the anti-corruption campaign has achieved a resounding success and been comprehensively consolidated.

According to Xiao, from December 2012 to last May, China's top anti-graft body had opened investigations on 392 officials at provincial and ministerial level, 22,000 at the department and bureau level, 170,000 at the county and division level, and 616,000 at the township level.

Xiao added 626,500 cases for violating the Party's eight-point decision on improving official's conduct were investigated.

The CPC released the eight-point decision in 2012 to reduce undesirable work practices and maintain close ties with the masses.

The broadest possible united front

Speaking at the press conference, Xu Yousheng, vice minister of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committeel, noted the CPC has always adhered to and developed the broadest possible united front over the century.

He noted the united front has become the political advantage of the CPC to bring together the will and strength of the people and an important asset to expand the Party's mass base, ruling position as well as contributing to fully build a modern socialist country and realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

Xu also highlighted CPC's united front work since the 18th CPC National Congress, noting the CPC Central Committee, with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, has held a series of important meetings, formulated and introduced a series of important regulations and documents on the united front work.

Major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics

Guo Yezhou, vice minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, introduced CPC's diplomatic initiatives, calling it one of the CPC's major frontlines at Monday's press conference.

Socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, Guo said CPC's diplomatic initiatives are becoming an important manifestation of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics.

"In our work, we insist on giving full play to our distinctive advantages, highlighting political leadership, and inheriting excellent traditional culture, and the Party's diplomatic initiatives fully demonstrate distinctive Chinese vision, style and way of conducting diplomacy."

According to Guo, the CPC has maintained regular contacts with more than 560 political parties and political organizations from over 160 countries and regions worldwide.

"We have friends in every corner of the world," said Guo.
