"Epic Journey," a celebration gala marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), is now being made into a movie, according to the gala's general director Chen Weiya.

Chen, who partook in directing the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, told China National Radio that the team has devoted days and nights into the film production since June 29, and the movie is expected to be released in October when the country welcomes the National Day.

The two-hour art performance took place at the National Stadium in Beijing on Monday and aired on Thursday night. It took a retrospective view of the revolutionary pioneers and critical moments in the past century and depicted China's significant transformation and great achievements under the leadership of the CPC.

The epic was presented in four chapters, namely "Advancing through the Flames," "Come Rain or Shine," "Riding the Current" and "A Splendid Future," featuring various art forms, such as music, dance, play, special effects and other artistic displays.
