There is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China, a mainland spokesperson said on Wednesday, stressing that this is a fact that no one or no force can change.

Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks when responding to a question about Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen's recent remarks concerning "Taiwan independence."

Ma warned Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority that any attempt to collude with external forces to seek "Taiwan independence" is nothing but an illusion that is doomed to fail.

In a separate comment to a claim by a U.S. official, Ma said the United States has made different excuses to sell arms to Taiwan and attempted to maintain its so-called deterrence, which will only pose a greater threat to the peace and stability of the Taiwan Straits and inflict greater harm on the well-being of the people on both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

James Moriarty, chairman of the American Institute in Taiwan, has recently claimed that the United States needs to improve deterrence, given the rising uncertainties in the Taiwan Straits.

Ma urged the U.S. side to stop playing the card of the Taiwan question, and prudently and properly deal with the related issues.

He said the root cause of the complicated situation in the Taiwan Straits is the collusion between the DPP authority, "Taiwan independence" forces and external forces, and their attempts to provoke and undermine peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits.

Ma warned that the mainland will take all necessary measures to stop any provocation and desperate measures made by the "Taiwan independence" forces.
