Visiting Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday told Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong that the long-standing China-Singapore relation has become an important stabilizing factor in the region.

During their meeting, Wang conveyed greetings from the Chinese leaders to Singapore's prime minister.

Hailing the momentum of development of bilateral ties over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Wang said it has benefited from the strategic leadership of the leaders of the two countries, the joint efforts of people from all walks of life in both countries and the fact that the Singapore's side has always viewed China's development objectively and rationally.

He highlighted that Singapore is adept at finding cooperation opportunities from China's development and striving for win-win prospects.

The China-Singapore all-around cooperative partnership is aptly positioned to keep pace with the times, Wang said.

China is willing to further enhance mutual trust and deepen exchanges with Singapore in the post-pandemic period, stay focused amid the turbulence, seize opportunities from the changes, and further promote mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in various fields, he said.

The Chinese foreign minister also called on the two countries to contribute to the peace, stability and development of the region and the world.

Wang said China will uphold good-neighborliness, continue to deepen cooperation with Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries and open up new prospects for China-ASEAN relations.

"We are willing to work with ASEAN countries to speed up consultations on a Code of Conduct in the South China Sea and jointly organize the 30th anniversary of the establishment of dialogue relations between China and ASEAN," he said.

Wang also called for maintaining a mature regional structure centered on ASEAN to share development dividends with other countries and promote common development and prosperity in the region.

Lee, for his part, affirmed the fruitful cooperation results achieved between the two countries, saying Singapore hopes that the bilateral ties will further develop to create a new era.

Over the past 30 years, ASEAN-China relations have been enhanced on all fronts, which is in the fundamental interests of both sides and has contributed to regional stability, openness and cooperation, Lee said.

The prime minister also welcomed China's continued contribution to the world and said he hoped all parties will interact positively with China and work together to build a global village in the era of globalization.

Wang on Monday met Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat and Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan.

Singapore is Wang's third stop in a tour of the region that has already taken in Cambodia and Vietnam.
