The 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held a press conference on Friday to introduce the guiding principles of its sixth plenary session.
Here are some highlights:
• The latest plenary session took place at a key moment with great historical significance, said Wang Xiaohui, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee.
• The four-day session concluded on Thursday with the release of a communique. It also adopted a landmark resolution on the major achievements and historical experience of the CPC's 100 years of endeavors.
• The landmark resolution adopted at the CPC plenum is a Marxist programmatic document, a political declaration of building socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and a guide for realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, said Qu Qingshan, head of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee.
• The plenum fully affirmed the achievements in cultural construction and ideological work, Wang said.
• The ideological domain has undergone sweeping and fundamental changes, and the cultural confidence among all Party members and all Chinese people has been significantly boosted, according to Wang.
• With regard to common prosperity, an official said enterprises must operate legally and honestly, treat employees kindly and create wealth, which is the right way for business.
• Entrepreneurs are encouraged to actively participate in charity, but should not be forced to make donations, according to the official.
