Australia announced on Monday it will pause its bordering reopening plan for two more weeks over the fear of the Omicron variant.

The country last week announced plans to allow entry of certain visa holders, including skilled workers and students, from December 1 onwards.

Australia reported its first two cases related to the new variant on Sunday, and the total reached five as of now.

It has already introduced temporary bans on travel from several African countries, including South Africa, over the weekend.
