The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) fired "an unidentified projectile" eastward on Friday, Yonhap news agency reported citing the Republic of Korea (ROK)'s Joint Chiefs of Staff.

It marked the DPRK's third projectile launch this year. The country said earlier this week that it had successfully conducted a "hypersonic gliding warhead" test on Tuesday, supervised by top leader Kim Jong Un.

The official Korean Central News Agency reported last week that a hypersonic missile was launched on January 5.
