Nicholas Burns was sworn in as the new U.S. ambassador to China on Tuesday, Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman said on her Twitter account.
The U.S. Senate last month confirmed the veteran diplomat in the post, which had been vacant for more than a year.
