China and Thailand on Saturday jointly called for all countries to make joint efforts to support peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

During a meeting in Tunxi in east China's Anhui Province, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi briefed visiting Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai on China's stance on the Ukraine crisis.

China and Thailand agreed that all countries should support the continued talks between Ukraine and Russia to bring about peace, and work to prevent a humanitarian crisis on a bigger scale and provide timely humanitarian assistance.

Both sides also believed that the spreading of negative spillover effects of the crisis should be curbed, and the momentum of global economic recovery should be maintained.

The hard-won peaceful development of the Asian region should be cherished, and the regional and the global peace and stability should be promoted, said the two foreign ministers.
