The Pacific reef-egret dominates the uninhabited Chiyu Islet in Nan'ao County. They can only fly at low altitudes; therefore, they rarely migrate far away. There are a lot of fish around the islet that provide abundant food for the reef-egrets, so they have become resident birds there.
About 'Journeys in Nature': Nan'ao Series
Nan'ao Island in Guangdong Province is a rare habitat of greenery on the Tropic of Cancer. In June, the southeastern monsoon brings warm, moist air to the island, nurturing all lifeforms: from ancient fig trees and newborn black-naped terns to mysterious undersea creatures and medical herbs, which bestow Nan'ao Island with many stories.
