Guanshan Mountain National Nature Reserve, located on the northern edge of the mid-subtropical zone, is a habitat for subtropical and temperate plants and a sanctuary for rare species. Ancient relict plants like the longstipe disanthus are found in this area.

Yifeng County in China's Jiangxi Province belongs to the subtropical warm and humid climate zone, with an average annual temperature around 17.2 degrees Celsius. Yifeng is known as a home of bamboo in the country: nearly a third of its area is covered by Moso bamboo forest.
