Chinese and Indonesian leaders have set the general direction of building a community with a shared future for their relations – the most important political outcome reached during Indonesian President Joko Widodo's visit to Beijing this week, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Jianghao said on Tuesday.

Wu made the remarks during a press briefing about Chinese President Xi Jinping's meeting with Widodo earlier in the day.

The two leaders agreed to continue to promote the four pillars of cooperation in politics, economy, people-to-people exchanges and maritime projects, Wu said.

He added that both leaders have agreed to contribute more to a post-pandemic recovery, global governance and open regionalism.

During the visit, the two sides issued a Joint Press Statement on the bilateral meeting between the two presidents.

They also signed a memorandum of understanding on jointly promoting cooperation between the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Initiative and the Global Maritime Fulcrum, and other cooperation documents covering such areas as vaccines, green development, cyber security and oceans.

Wu said China-Indonesia cooperation has strong vitality, unlimited potential and bright prospects.
