China's Mengtian lab module, one of the two such modules destined for the China Space Station, has recently been moved to Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in south China's Hainan Province, China Manned Space Agency revealed on Tuesday.

Assembly and relevant testing will follow as planned, the agency said, without disclosing a timeline.

All equipment at the launch site are standing by and all systems for testing are being prepared.

The Mengtian lab module, the final component of the space station, is slated to be launched in October.

By that time, China's space station will be expanded from the basic foundational core module into a T-shaped three-module structure, with the core module Tianhe in the center and the two lab modules, Wentian and Mengtian, on either side. A maximum of six people can stay in the station.

The Mengtian module is for microgravity science research and is equipped with multi-disciplinary laboratory cabinets for fluid physics, materials science, combustion science, basic physics and aerospace technology experiments.

Currently, China's space station consists of the core module, Wentian lab module and Tianzhou-4 cargo spacecraft, housing the Shenzhou-14 crew of three members.
