Xinhua News Agency on Wednesday released a list of facts about U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's recent visit to China's Taiwan region in what it says is a move to refute U.S. disinformation.

In a list of 11 facts, Xinhua said the U.S. side has been pushing disinformation to confuse right and wrong and confound black and white, criticizing China's legitimate countermeasures and trying to mislead the world about the Taiwan question.

"It is necessary to set the record straight with facts and lay bare the U.S.'s hegemonic nature and gangster logic," it said.

Disregarding the Chinese side's stern warnings, Pelosi arrived in China's Taiwan region on August 2. Shortly after she landed on the island, China started a series of joint naval and air drills around the Taiwan island.

According to the list, the U.S. and Taiwan colluded and provoked first, and China is only taking legitimate countermeasures for self-defense.

"China's countermeasures are firm, effective, proportionate and in line with China's domestic law, international law and customary international practice," it said.

It is legitimate and lawful for the Chinese military to conduct military exercises and training in the waters near China's Taiwan Island, read the list.

It added that the U.S.' move to use Taiwan to contain China is the root cause of troubles that undermine peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits and even the world.

As part of the countermeasures, China has also imposed sanctions on Pelosi and her immediate family members. Xinhua said the sanctions are justified and lawful.

"As a sovereign country, China has every right to do so," it said.
