Some U.S. Congressmen have recently visited China's Taiwan region in the name of making an "unofficial visit", which seriously violated the three China-U.S. joint communiqués and the one-China principle, Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office said on Saturday.

The attempts by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities to draw in external anti-China forces to provoke calls of  "independence" are doomed to fail, Ma said.

Ma made the remarks when responding to U.S. Republican Senator of Tennessee Marsha Blackburn's visit to China's Taiwan region.

On Friday, a spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) also voiced strong opposition to the visit.

The U.S. lawmaker's visit to the Taiwan region seriously violated the one-China principle and the provisions of the three China-U.S. joint communiques, the spokesperson said in a statement.

There is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China, said the MOFA.

The Chinese side will not waver in opposing "Taiwan independence" separatist activities and external interference, the spokesperson of the MOFA pledged.

"We urge the relevant U.S. politician to abide by the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques, immediately stop all forms of official interactions with Taiwan, and immediately stop sending wrong signals to 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces," said the MOFA.

China will continue to take strong measures to resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity, the MOFA warned.
