In the next week, the 2022 annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State will kick off in Uzbekistan, and the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly will also open.
SCO summit
The 22nd Meeting of SCO Council of Heads of State will be held from Thursday to Friday in the Uzbek city of Samarkand.
In a recent interview with China Media Group, Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jiang Yan said the SCO countries have followed the path of win-win cooperation, and have a vast potential for development.
Launched in the Chinese City of Shanghai in June 2001, the SCO was first expanded in 2017 when India and Pakistan joined as full members. With its six founding members: China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, the group currently has eight full members, four observer countries and six dialogue partners.
Under the guidance of the Shanghai Spirit, a bedrock principle of the body, the SCO countries have rendered each other respect and support, forging a new type of international relations featuring mutual respect and win-win cooperation.
