Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and U.S. President Joe Biden held a phone conversation on Tuesday over the missile launch by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

According to Japanese media, the phone call lasted for about 25 minutes during which both leaders shared recognition that the missile launch was a grave challenge to the peace and stability of the international community and strongly condemned it.

They vowed to work closely with relevant countries including the Republic of Korea. 

Kishida told Biden that Japan will drastically strengthen its defense capabilities, the Japanese report said.
