A standard on quantum techniques filed by a Chinese quantum company has been green-lit by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the company announced on Wednesday.
There are six steps before the paper, file number ISO/IEC DIS 23837-1, can be published as an international standard, with voting involved in every round.
Voting on the paper, dubbed "security requirements, test and evaluation methods for quantum key distribution," was closed for the fifth round on September 28, with a timeline set for final approval in 2023, the ISO website shows.
Primarily drafted by a Hefei-based quantum technology company QuantumCTek in east China's Anhui Province and the China Information Technology Security Evaluation Center, the paper will serve as an international standard to regulate the security detection technology of quantum key distribution.
It probes into the design and security evaluation for quantum key distribution products while aiming to upgrade the industrial structure in quantum communication.
The two agencies jointly submitted the proposal to the ISO along with experts and organizations from the UK, Singapore and Luxembourg in November 2017, according to Zhao Meisheng, a senior expert from QuantumCTek.
