Delegate Liu Xiuxiang, vice-principal and a history teacher at Wangmo Experimental High School, from Wangmo County in southwest China's Guizhou Province, said basic education infrastructure there had been comprehensively improved in the past decade, with the local school having the nicest buildings and the best environment across the county.
In 2012, only 70 students in the county made it to college, while that number reached over 1,300 just 10 years later, Liu noted.
Delegate Shi Jintong, Party chief of Shibadong Village in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in central China's Hunan Province, said his village had benefited a great deal from the nationwide poverty alleviation campaign.
Shi said many young people returned to the village from big cities after it saw "earthshaking changes" thanks to a strategy called targeted poverty alleviation, adding that the average income in Shibadong has now risen to 23,505 yuan (about $3,200) from 1,668 yuan in 2013.

China's space innovation was also a focus of the interview session. China will step up efforts to make more technological breakthroughs in the space sector, Delegate Wu Yansheng, chairman of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, said on Saturday.
After completing the construction of China's space station by the end of this year, the country's future plans include developing the next generation of carrier rockets, manned missions to the moon, a mission to collect samples from Mars and exploration of asteroids, Wu added.

China's Saihanba will leverage technology to achieve high-quality development of its forest farms, Delegate An Changming, the Party secretary of Saihanba Mechanized Forest Farm, said, adding that details of each tree would be filed and intelligent management of the forests would be conducted.
Saihanba, in north China's Hebei Province, was once a hunting ground and degraded into an area of barren wilderness. After generations of foresters' efforts, it has now become a national forest park and nature reserve with a total forest landscape of 1.15 million mu (about 76,700 hectares), as well as the world's largest forest farm.

Policy dividends and technological empowerment have secured the stable development of Chinese enterprises despite the global economic downturn, Delegate Zhou Haijiang, the board chairman and CEO of HOdo Group, said, noting that implementing government policies effectively creates big opportunities for private enterprises in China.
He added that doing so was the secret to his Wuxi-based garment group's development from a small workshop to a major employer. "The growth of private businesses in turn helps boost the nation's development," he said.
The delegates also talked about their views on preserving and developing traditional culture, the rapid growth of China's express delivery industry, the development of the Daqing Oilfield and many other topics.
