Every year, "Frost's Descent", the last solar term of autumn, arrives around October 23. Temperatures begin to fall, and frost starts to descend across China. The autumn harvest is also coming to a close.

Autumn might be the most colorful season in China, with the leaves turning from golden yellow to red.

The poem is called "A Mountain Trip", written by Du Mu from the Tang Dynasty (618-907).

A steep path leads to the cold mountain far in sight;
Some houses are found where white clouds rise.
I stop my cart to enjoy the maples in twilight hours;
The frosty leaves are redder than spring flowers.

Brilliant ancient Chinese scholars observed changing patterns of nature. The scholar measured the sun's annual movements into 24 equal parts, creating the 24 solar terms, which were used to govern agriculture in ancient China.
