The China-Indonesia high-level strategic cooperation sets an example of self-strength through unity and sincere cooperation between major developing countries, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said at a regular press briefing on Wednesday.

Zhao made the remarks in response to Indonesian defense minister Prabowo Subianto's comments when co-hosting a press conference with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, that Indonesia is honored to be good friends with China and the U.S. and maintains friendly relations with both countries.

China and Indonesia, both as major developing countries and representatives of emerging economies, share broad common interests and extensive cooperation space, Zhao said.

It is shown from Prabowo's comments that the region's countries generally pursue openness and inclusiveness instead of taking sides, Zhao said.

"China looks forward to working with all parties to enhance exchanges and dialogues, promote cooperation and solidarity, and jointly safeguard regional peace and prosperity," the spokesperson said.

Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the 17th Group of 20 (G20) Summit in Bali, Indonesia and held talks with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, and the two leaders reached an important consensus on jointly building the China-Indonesia community with a shared future, Zhao said.
