Chinese Vice Premier Liu He said China looks forward to working with the European Union (EU) to expand cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, finance, digital and technology, as trade and investment cooperation remains the closest ties of interest between the two sides.
Liu made the remarks in a written speech at the fifth China-EU CEO and Former Senior Officials' Dialogue on Thursday.
He said China-EU relations have become more prominent with increasing instability and uncertainty amid the profound and complex changes in the current international political and economic situation.
China is willing to work with the EU to jointly safeguard the multilateral trading system, with the World Trade Organization at its core, he said.
Noting that both sides reached important understandings in multiple fields at the ninth China-EU High-Level Economic and Trade Dialogue in July, Liu said China and the EU are working together to promote the implementation and achieve more substantial results.
The vice premier also expressed confidence in China's economy next year, adding that China has introduced policies to address the current downside risks of the real estate sector, as it is the pillar industry of the national economy.
