Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has called for the effective implementation of a package of policy measures to stabilize the economy.

Li made the appeal when he presided over a State Council executive meeting on Tuesday, days after the annual Central Economic Work Conference, which stressed the importance of making economic stability a top priority next year.

Efforts should be made to implement what has been agreed upon at the key economic conference, according to the meeting.

The meeting emphasized that efforts will be made to stabilize growth, employment and prices so that the country's major economic indicators will stay within an appropriate range.

Support for the private sector

It has long been China's commitment to "unswervingly consolidate and develop the public sector" and at the same time "unswervingly encourage, support and guide the development of the non-public sector."

Tuesday's meeting reiterated the support for private enterprises to boost their confidence and help them further develop.

The healthy and sustainable development of the platform economy should also be backed, according to the meeting.

A 16-step guideline issued last month to support people's essential housing needs and their needs for better housing should be implemented, the meeting said.

Epidemic prevention and control measures and economic and social development should be better coordinated to lay a sound foundation for economic growth next year.

Stabilize prices

As the new year and the Spring Festival are approaching, the supply of goods should be guaranteed and their prices stabilized, said the meeting, adding that last-mile delivery services that are not smooth in some places should be resolved quickly.

The meeting said people's demand for epidemic prevention materials and medicines should be met, and China should improve cooperation with others to import goods that are urgently needed in a reasonable manner.
