In Russia's current campaign in Ukraine, Kherson was the first major city to fall under Kremlin's control back in March 2022. Nearly nine months later, Russia's army pulled out of the city to positions a kilometer away, across the Dnipro River, where they're sniping and shelling Kherson city every day.
