The campus romance of a common moorhen couple in Hainan
CGTN

A small man-made pond surrounded by lush shrubs and plants on the campus of Hainan University in southern China is gradually becoming a sanctuary for a variety of birds, particularly in spring, when many are busy breeding. A natural plant wall separates the water from the noisy world, ensuring a land of peace for birds to enjoy a bite and and a romantic moment.

A pair of common moorhens appears to know how to take advantage of the early morning peace. The photos below simply capture their passionate moment while foraging in the water. It is difficult to capture the intimacy of the birds because they might dive under water as soon as they see anything unusual.
