Deep winter hasn't come yet, the ecotone in the Greater Hinggan Mountains is already blanketed with snow. Animals either migrate or hibernate, leaving only a few hardy species to roam the frigid world of ice and snow. Roe deer is one of the species. Life remains vigorous in Saihanba, a giant artificial forest in north China's Hebei Province. The forest provides a sanctuary for species, large and small.
