The U.S. is unsurpassed when it comes to cyber theft, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Friday.

Spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks at a regular press conference in response to a query about the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation director's recent remarks on China.

Speaking of cyber theft, no one will ever surpass the U.S., Mao said. According to German media reports, the U.S. intelligence eavesdropped on a working dialogue between the Chinese and German defense ministries held in Berlin in February this year. "But of course, this is nothing new," Mao said.

The U.S. has long used its tech advantage to conduct massive surveillance and secret theft and cyber theft against its allies and the rest of the world, which has long been an open secret, said Mao, adding that the U.S. should take a hard look in the mirror before it points its fingers at other countries.
