Since thousands of years ago, people from China and Azerbaijan have maintained cultural and trade contact through the ancient Silk Road. Today, China and Azerbaijan enjoy fruitful cooperation and communication under the Belt and Road Initiative. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev defines cultural heritage as an asset that needs to be preserved and passed on to the next generation.
