The wilderness of northern Guangdong is known for its dramatic ruggedness. Here in the secluded valley lives what's been called one of the world's most mysterious birds, the white-eared night heron. In late spring and early summer, white-eared night herons build nests for hatching. The expectant parents are highly vigilant. Even the slightest disturbance prompts them to divert predators and leave the eggs safe in the nest. Watch the video to see how the chicks grow up under parents' protection.
