The 31st FISU World University Games will kick off in Chengdu! The opening ceremony is set to be held on Friday evening at the Dong'an Lake Sports Park Stadium where the gym and swimming contests will be hosted. A stadium at Fenghuangshan Sports Park can be transformed from a basketball venue to a hockey venue in four hours. Among all the 49 stadiums, 13 are newly built and the remainder are existing stadiums that have been refurbished. Unique Sichuan elements – such as pandas, cultural relics unearthed from the Sanxingdui Ruins site and Jinsha Site, kung fu tea, and Sichuan Opera – have been incorporated into the design of the venues.
