The spacecraft carrying India's Moon Mission-3 successfully underwent the planned orbit reduction maneuver, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said late Sunday night.
The operation was accomplished at around 11:00 p.m. local time on Sunday.
The next operation to further reduce the orbit is scheduled for August 9, tweeted the ISRO.
The spacecraft carrying the Moon Mission-3 is expected to land on the lunar surface on August 23.
India's lunar landing mission has entered the Moon's orbit, the Indian Space Research Organisation said on August 5.
"Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI) maneuver was completed successfully today (August 05, 2023). With this, #Chandrayaan3 has been successfully inserted into a Lunar orbit," the space agency announced on social media, adding that the next lunar-bound orbit maneuver is scheduled for Sunday.
India successfully launched its third moon mission, called Chandrayaan-3, last month.
