The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR) project is a landmark achievement under the Belt and Road Initiative, signaling pragmatic cooperation between China and Indonesia, spanning 142.3 kilometers with a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is the first high-speed project outside China that fully uses Chinese technology, standards and equipment.
To cope with the complicated geological and climatic conditions along the railway, the Chinese and Indonesian builders carried out careful surveys before building 56 bridges and 13 tunnels along the line to withstand adverse geological conditions.
During the construction of the Jakarta-Bandung HSR, a large number of Indonesian employees were recruited to participate in the construction, bringing 51,000 local job opportunities and training 45,000 Indonesian employees, according to the China Railway.
