In January, the 99 Dragon Ponds of the Laojun Mountain are still covered in snow. In the alpine coniferous and mixed forests, some rarely seen fowls quietly show up. Temminck's tragopan is a graceful and luxurious bird often hailed as the "king of pheasants" due to its red plumage, while blood pheasant is known as the "hermit in the highland" due to its stealth.
