Mutual learning among civilizations through filmmaking
The first Golden Panda Awards is being held in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province. It is poised to boost cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world through film and television productions. China has abundant stories to tell, but how can they enthrall and touch a global audience is the question. Douglas Hans Smith, senior visual effects supervisor, said the production of Chinese films help open his eyes to the charm of China's excellent traditional culture. He also seeks to bring some Western sensibilities to Chinese films, and let Chinese civilization weave into the rich tapestry of world civilization, with more outstanding works preserved by history.
