Lhamo is a national-level inheritor of the Karma Gardri School of thangka painting. Besides being an accomplished artist in the field, he's devoted his time to nurturing young talents, guiding them so that they can become skillful thangka painters. From his studio in Chengdu, Lhamo uses the income generated by his paintings to support over 40 children of different ethnicities. To Lhamo, these students are like his own children, and they affectionately call him "Dad" in Tibetan.
