Friday night's full moon, known as the "Harvest Moon," was the third closest moon to Earth of 2023 and the fourth and final supermoon this year.
Peaking at 5:58 p.m. in China, the moon was said to have appeared 5 percent bigger and 13 percent brighter than the average full moon of 2023.

A supermoon refers to a full moon when it is within 90 percent of the perigee, the closest point in its elliptical orbit to Earth.
Friday moon's appearance coincided with China's Mid-Autumn Festival, which is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar. It's marked by family reunions, enjoying the sights of the full moon and eating mooncakes.
