Lifting, balancing, and throwing flag poles that weigh more than 5 kilograms, Han Jiacheng, a 15-year-old boy from Cangzhou, north China's Hebei Province, has made a name for himself in the Zhongfan performing circle. Compared to his peers, Han is relatively shorter and smaller. This is a disadvantage for him in juggling the heavy flag pool. But with nerves of steel to overcome the many difficulties faced during training, he became stronger and more skillful at doing stunts. Hard work pays off for Han as his power-to-weight ratio was recognized by his teacher, putting him at the top of the pyramid formation. Zhongfan, or flagpole balancing, is one of the oldest acrobatics skills in China. With new stunts added to Zhongfan, the new generation of inheritors like Han Jiacheng are resolved to take this millennium-old acrobatic art further.
