The shining Chinese monals
CGTN
00:25

In the wild, the Chinese monals live in harsh places inaccessible to humans. The extreme deficiency in field research data slows captive breeding. In 1992, an incidental rescue led to the establishment of China's first Chinese monal conservation and research center in Baoxing County, Sichuan Province. Thus, the artificial breeding project was launched. All researchers of the Chinese monal have a common wish to release them back into the wild, and they hope more and more people will protect the Chinese monal.

About Journeys in Nature: Qionglai Mountains Series

Giant pandas were first discovered in the Qionglai Mountains in southwest China's Sichuan Province. More than 500 wild pandas are living in the mountains now. However, there is a lot more there than just pandas. In this series, you will see red pandas, sambar deer and Tibetan macaques. CGTN Nature takes you on a journey to track the pandas deep in the bamboo groves and uncover some interesting stories with the locals.
