Two Chinese smartphone manufacturers, OPPO and Huawei's Honor brand, are set to offer new models capable of satellite calls, following in the footsteps of the country's tech giant, Huawei.

Huawei launched a flagship smartphone that supports incoming and outgoing calls via satellite in August, making it the world's first phone with a satellite calling feature.

On Monday, OPPO introduced its new Find X7 and Find X7 Ultra series and announced that a new model with satellite connectivity, capable of earpiece and hands-free dual-mode function for the first time in smartphones, will be launched at the end of March.

Meanwhile, a recent announcement from Honor revealed that its satellite-supported smartphones will be launched at its press conference scheduled from Wednesday to Thursday.

In November, China Telecom, one of the country's leading telecom giants, stated at a conference that China will soon see a variety of mobile phones equipped with satellite communication functions.

China Telecom itself launched a smartphone featuring satellite communication services in November. The company affirmed that the phone can send and receive messages and make calls via satellite at any time and from anywhere, without the need to switch to a new SIM card or phone number.
