Japan has become the fifth country to put a spacecraft on the moon, but the probe is not generating solar power, the country's space agency said on Saturday.
The Smart Lander for Investigating Moon, or SLIM, came down onto the lunar surface at around 12:20 a.m. Tokyo time on Saturday. The mission is designed to test "precision" landing technology and revitalize a space program that has suffered various setbacks.
