Eight herdsmen with a thousand sheep and cattle were trapped by a severe snowstorm on their way to a settlement in the Yili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region around midnight on Friday.
Local police immediately drove to the scene after receiving a phone call notifying them of the situation. Led by local police officers, the trapped herdsmen and livestock safely arrived at their destination after a three-hour walk.
Multiple regions in Xinjiang have been recently hit by severe snowstorms. Some trains were suspended due to the weather conditions from last Friday to Sunday. The stranded passengers were provided with food and hot water.
